Fort William Historical Park Roof Replacement

Scope of work

• All existing roofing materials shall be removed and disposed of off-site at the Vendor's expense. • All shakes shall be premium-grade, clear heartwood, 100% edge-grain, 24-inch No. 1 resawn blue or red cedar shakes, 1/2-inch medium hand-split, premium brand, fire-rated. All shakes shall have factory-applied Class C fire-retardant treatment and shall comply with all applicable municipal, provincial and building code requirements. • The Vendor shall supply all fasteners. Cedar shakes shall be installed using stainless steel ring-shank nails or other fasteners as recommended by the manufacturer. Staples will not be permitted. Installation shall be completed in accordance with the manufacturer's written specifications and recommendations. • The Vendor shall supply and install a ventilated roof underlayment system, such as Cedar Breather® Roof Ventilation Mat by Benjamin Obdyke, or approved equivalent. The roofing system shall also include roofing felt and 15 lb. cool grey underlayment, installed in accordance with the manufacturer's written specifications and recommendations. • The completed roof installation shall maintain the historic character and appearance of the buildings. Shake exposure, coursing and installation pattern shall match the existing roofing configuration unless otherwise approved by FWHP.
